Metallic land!
That already exist to get more space on islands or near the coast sometimes (altough "metallic land" may be going farther than what exist),but it could be used over a tiberium satured (saturated?) place in a critical situation,and that way it would make sense.

This can also be done with temperate terrain, as additional tiles for that tileset.

What's wrong with a green zone? Every mod does the damn doom and gloom, which you already have a theatre for, something along the lines of a place where the infestion is under control and there are massive populations, would be new and interesting.
