So, after months and months of having terrible internet service with Time Warner Cable (probably the worst internet service I've EVER had, including the Hughes Satellite service I had while in Iraq), I finally got back with my beloved Verizon FiOS since we've moved into our new Apartment.

So I pay for the FiOS Quantum 75/75 service. Decided to do a speed test... I was pretty happy considering the wife is streaming a movie on Amazon Prime and I'm streaming on Spotify with Facebook uploading a video on my phone at the time.

Here's my Result:

Not too bad for North Texas Very Happy

Too bad Verizon is a leading opponent of net neutrality.

I wish I had 10% of it, in terms of upload. Only my download speed is 10% of it.

TOR is so damn slow.  I'd rather net neutrality.

I use Time Warner Cable now....and for the longest time it wasn't all that shabby here in South West part of Ohio. But....conveniently in the last few months since the initial 'Comcast is thinking of buying TimeWarnerCable' and the fallout from that....TWC's service has plummeted. Internet has been consistently falling out on Fridays and Saturdays (thought it was the router at first but replaced it with a newer one happens less now and doesn't last as long...but still happens)...speeds have been slower and unpredictable.
IIRC I'm sitting at only like 20mbps download and just over 1mbps upload. It makes playing some games online a lot of...fun...(though my crappy laptop is a good part of that problem with running games....really ought to build my own rig)

Not sure if verizon FiOS is available where i'm at though I'm sure it's available somewhere in the nearby area. The other services that I do know are available or have been available have been less reliable than TWC unfortunately as well...or at least was the case until more recently...

I know how you feel, before I got in to the university I had a 2 Mbps connection too. I was even using a 1 Mbps connection in 2005-2012 #Tongue

Tried a server from near Los Angeles, California (I'm just north of Dallas, Texas) and this was my result:

No noticeable difference except for a pretty good increase in ping.

Honestly, Tore... there is no pratical difference between your connection and Rampa's. You both seem to have the whole internet in your hard drives. #Tongue

As much as Uni life is nice, i wouldn't want to live there just for a fast Internet connection. Wink

I do have some love for AT&T for the about 10 days that I could use it in Florida, last year. By far the best 3G that I've ever could use in my life and the only one that I could do a stable video-call with Skype (My mobile phone didn't support 4G). In Brazil, the download speed of the 3G from Vivo was usually less than 1mbps and their ping was at least 20x higher than yours. Nowadays I have a 4G phone and plan. The download speed was 8mbps and upload was similar. But the ping is nowhere as good as yours.

Who still needs hard disks when redownloading anything at the exact moment you need it takes less than 2 seconds?  Laughing
